At Aeolus Animal Hospital, we believe that every pet deserves the best possible care. That's why we treat each pet as an individual, and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets their unique needs.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Bob's Veterinary license was reinstated on July 3, 2025. He is back to caring for animals at Aeolus Animal Hospital and looks forward to seeing you soon.
Dr. Bob filed an appeal to the May 8, 2025 Summary Suspension order on May 18 2025, followed by an emergent motion for stay of the interim suspension. The appellate officer granted the stay of the May 8 order largely due to the lack of due process afforded to Dr. Bob by the Vermont Veterinary Board.
This means that Bob can practice during the pendency of the appeal. While this is not over, we are grateful to have Bob back with patients while the process proceeds. Bob will meet before the Veterinary Board to review this case in August of 2025. Our clients should be aware that the conditions ordered require owners to remain with their pet for appointment. If you are unable to stay with your pet, you will be scheduled with Dr. Peter Geannelis for your appointment.
We are grateful to all of our wonderful clients and friends who have stood by us these last few months. We are forever grateful for your support.
Dear Friends,
You all know me. I have been a part of this community for over 30 years. I have been privileged to know your families and love and care for your pets all these years. I would never do any of the horrible things that I have been accused of. I love animals and have dedicated my whole life to treating them with kindness, dignity, and respect. This is a dangerous smear campaign from a couple of angry, vengeful former employees. The people who have worked closest with me, including our friend Dr. Kyle Bushee who is a trusted vet and worked alongside me until 2022, are publicly supporting me. Please don't believe these outrageous lies. Once I have a chance to fairly defend myself in front of the board I will clear my name.
Meanwhile, I am grateful to so many of you who have reached out and stood up for me and my family. We'll get through this together.
Warmly,
Dr. Bob
Former Veterinary Associate:
“I was an Associate Veterinarian at Aeolus Animal Hospital and Equine Center between February 2017 and November 2022. I worked directly and closely with Dr. Wendell during that time as the only other veterinarian at Aeolus…I was shocked to hear about the current proceedings involving Dr. Wendell. Dr. Wendell goes above and beyond to ensure that animals in his care are comfortable and treated with care and dignity. . .”
Veterinary Review
You may have recently heard or read on social media that Dr Bob Wendell is under review by the state veterinary board. Aeolus wants you to know that Dr Bob loves every animal and always treats them with expert tender care. His clients know him to be a gentle, loving and compassionate person. We have never had an owner file a complaint, including in this case, and this is a false smear campaign from a couple of disgruntled former employees.
In animal care, a charge like this, even if made without evidence, must be taken seriously, and a summary suspension is a temporary condition while the review process takes place. This process has not been completed. While we understand that the process of review is important to the safety of our animals, in this case we regret that the system of review may have given clients a reason to question how much we love their animals. We know once this is behind us and Dr Bob can clear his name, we will have your trust and confidence just like always.
The former employees who have made these outrageous and dangerous claims have not yet been required to show up and testify in person. When we have our hearing the board will experience live testimony from Dr Bob, along with an employee of over 30 years who works closely with Dr Bob and who will report his tender and expert care and that she has never witnessed a single improper act. The Board will also hear similar supportive testimony from local beloved vet Kyle Bushee, DVM, who worked with Bob for 5 years. When these accusers face the board and answer questions their lies will be exposed.
Please keep an open mind until our friend and partner Dr Bob has had a fair chance to defend himself against these horrible and false allegations.
What this means in the meantime for you and your pets:
The entire Aeolus team remains committed to the best and most humane care for your animals. Bob has hired Dr. Peter Geannelis. Peter recently retired from his veterinary practice in Bennington and will be conducting appointments at Aeolus. We have always had a policy that allows for owners to remain with their animal for the duration of their visit. This will always be true. We have an open-door policy because we are proud of our compassionate care of animals entrusted to us.
What happens next?
We anticipate Bob's full return following the completion of this review. Until then, he will take on an administrative role at the hospital while Peter handles all patient care. We have also hired an additional veterinarian who will be joining us in September. Our hospital remains open and ready to care for you and your pets.
Dr Bob is grateful to have your support and would be glad to answer any questions you might have about this process. We appreciate your understanding, patience, and support. And you may freely share Dr Bob’s statement on your social media.
